Hello friends, Barry here. This is the bulletin front that will come out this upcoming Sunday, July 14. Go ahead and read it today as it contains info on Listening Groups which begin tomorrow evening. Blessings. ------------------------------------------ Hello Dublin! Y’all are so gracious when it comes to learning your names! Thank you. As a church, this past Sunday we shared in our first communion service together; it was a joy to be able to serve you. We are ready to provide ALL locations for our Listening Groups. You and your family are invited! Each group is open for anyone to attend. Come meet your pastor! We collectively form the body, and each part is needed to make up the whole body (1 Corinthians 12). Group #1: Morris and Dina Hester, 312 Cypress Point Drive; Wed, July 10 @ 7 pm Group #2: Scott and Lynn Beasley, 2102 Peacock Drive; Wed, July 17 @ 7 pm Group #3: Linc and Kathy Jones, 165 Ed Swinson Rd; Wed, July 24 @ 7 pm Group #4: Dustin and Rachel Gay, 891 Bobby Jones Rd; Wed, July 31 @ 7 pm Group #5: Jack and Jenny Owen, 1618 Bellevue Rd; Sun, August 4 @ 2 pm Please pick the location and time that works for you and come prepared to participate with your new pastor! I look forward to interacting with you. For those who cannot drive late in the evening, please consider coming to the Owen’s home at 2 pm on August 4. Speaking of “getting to know you,” our last church pictorial directory was in 2012. I asked a pictorial directory company this week, “What is the average time between directories?” They said it was five years. I would like to invite us to create a directory in the month of August. Here’s how it will work: We will schedule two weekends for picture taking, August 9-11 and August 16-18. Your family will sign up for a session (time slots will be available in Listening Groups and Sundays; phone calls will be made to those from whom we have not heard). You will come to have your picture taken. Your chosen family picture will go into the directory. You will receive a directory and 8x10 at no cost and be able to purchase additional pictures as desired. It will take a little while to get directories back; if we are able to take pictures in August, we should be able to have our directories by mid-October. This Sunday, we will continue our sermon series on leadership. Our sermon title will be, “The Leader God Blesses Has Character” and the Scripture will come from Romans 5:1-5 (NRSV). On Monday, July 22, it will be Dublin First UMC night at Adrian Campground. Please make your plans to attend. It will begin at 7 pm. I will be emceeing and Dr. Bob Moon will be preaching. Our musicians will lead the music. North Central District Camp Meeting at Adrian is nightly July 21- 24 at 7 pm. God is always blessing our lives, even when we are not aware of it. Barry here. As I complete my Bulletin Front each week, I hope to share it with you on @DublinFUMC. It's not only informative about events in the church, but will give you a first taste of what's going on with your preacher and parsonage family. Without further adieu! -------------------------------------- Hello Dublin! This past Sunday, I was truly blessed to worship with you. It was the first Sunday that I was able to get a feel for the “usual” worship schedule. Bob preached in sanctuary at 9 am and I preached both contemporary (9 am in the fellowship hall) and traditional (11 am in the sanctuary). God is good. He continues to bless us in real and profound ways. I am honored to be able to share the opportunities for you to know Jesus and prayer time at the altar at the end of each service. This will be a weekly opportunity. If we want a mountain top experience at Dublin First UMC, it begins on our knees! Y’all are so gracious when it comes to learning your names! Thank you. I’ll give you a funny side note to learning the names. At 11 am, I’m learning more quickly where some of you sit and then connecting the names from there. Nelson Carswell shared that he’s always on the back row ready to usher if needed. The Gainous family sits on the “Rebecca pew,” 7 from the back on my left. Donna Forth is doing an outstanding job of changing the paraments (those colored cloth pieces on the altar), sometimes daily depending on whether or not we’re having a funeral, wedding, communion, or our seasonal colors. At 9 am, it’s purely about asking and remembering (since we’ve only had one 9 am service in the fellowship hall). I am aware that if I call out Tim Lake (T1 and T2), I most likely will hit someone on the stage! Please continue to give us grace as we learn all of your names and the names of your children. I’ll continue to scour the directory from 2012 (which BTW, we’ll need a new one soon!) and Facebook. I’m getting there! Some of you have asked about the parsonage phone number. It is (478) 304-1162. You can reach me in the office anytime at (478) 272-0242. Last week, I gave you the first three locations for listening groups. It bears repeating: We are ready to provide the first few locations for our Listening Groups. Each group is open for anyone to attend. It will be my joy to meet with each of you as I begin the process of visioning with you as we move forward together in our church. God has blessed each of you with certain spiritual and personality gifts, and I hope to be able to help you discover what those are and how they can be used for service at Dublin First United Methodist. No Youth tonight, June 26th! Special Youth Night on Sunday, June 30th at 6 pm. Come join us for games and a smoothie bar! Our guest for the night will present about the current foster situation in our county. Also, It’s Barry’s 41st birthday, so we’re also going to have a surprise cake! The youth group would love to invite everyone in the congregation to participate in the nights events, hope to see you there!

Fourth and final day of VBS 2019! Preschool: Jesus tells His friends He is alive and He wants to be their friend forever. Elementary: God sent the Holy Spirit to help you. VBS Celebration: Our preschool and elementary participants sang a few of their favorite songs from the week and we celebrated collecting more than 300 cans and close to $700 for our neighbors in need...Alex and Chip got slimed. Remember, we'd love to have all of our participants join us for worship this Sunday, June 23, as we celebrate VBS with our congregation. We will sing a preschool song and an elementary song during our 9 am and 11 am worship service (both services will be in the Sanctuary).
Can't believe VBS 2019 is almost over...just one more day! Preschool - Today’s Bible story was about how God loves us so much He sent us His Son, Jesus, to be our friend forever. Elementary - Today's Bottom Line: God sent Jesus to save us. Tomorrow we're learning about Pentecost, so our dress up day suggestion is to wear red, yellow, or orange. Tomorrow at 11:30 am our preschool participants and our elementary participants will be singing a few songs for parents and friends...and we will reveal just how much was given to help our Dublin community...and pour slime on Alex (we're already in the double digits when it comes to how many cups of slime are going to be poured on her head).
We're already halfway done with VBS 2019! We're having a great time! Preschool - God’s words are very important and that God gave them to us so we can know Him. Gather several preschool books that teach things like ABCs, numbers, nature, colors, etc. Add a children’s Bible. Look through the books together and talk about what they teach us. Open the Bible last and talk about how it helps us know God. Elementary - Tuesday's Bottom Line: You can know God through His word. Don't forget your donations to this year's VBS mission project - cans or coins - we want to work together to impact the Dublin community and will use the donations for our Blessing Box. Tomorrow we're wearing our Power Up VBS t-shirts (distributed at dismissal today). We will have a VBS Celebration and Family Experience on Thursday, June 20 at 11:30 am. Preschool and Elementary participants will sing...and Alex will get slimed (how much depends on how many cans and dollars are donated).
VBS 2019 t-shirts were delivered this afternoon. They will be distributed tomorrow (it may happen at dismissal if we don't get them sorted by drop off). The kids are encouraged to wear them Wednesday. There is no charge for t-shirts. All children registered by June 3 will have a shirt. If you registered your child after June 3, we can't gurantee that he/she will get a shirt. We placed our t-shirt order several weeks ago. We did order some extras and will do what we can to make sure everyone has a shirt. Thanks!
What a great first day of VBS 2019! Through Abraham’s story our PRESCHOOL group learned: God knows everything, and because God knows everything, we can trust that He knows what is best for us. When you go into your child’s room this week, say, “Good morning! Where’s my [child’s name]? There he/she is! I’m so glad God made you!” Our ELEMENTARY group learned: God wants you to know Him. Talk with your family about how you personally get to know God or what that might look like. Don't forget our mission project...we're trying to work together to impact our community! We're collecting "change for change" and food for our Blessing Box (monetary donations will be used to buy more food). During their missions class, the elementary kids got a special container to collect change in and though it's a tough job, they'll have to eat those m&ms to empty their tube so they can fill it with change. If your child is participating in our dress up days...tomorrow we're talking about a kid who became king...so wear a crown or tiara! See you tomorrow morning!
VBS starts TOMORROW morning, June 17, at 9 AM! If your child has not registered yet, there will be registration forms available at our check-in stations. Children who have NOT completed Kindergarten (Rising Pre-K and Completed Pre-K) will check-in on our preschool hall. Our elementary attendees (Completed Kindergarten-Completed 5th Grade) will check in in our Fellowship Hall. If your child would like to participate in our dress up days, tomorrow our outfit inspiration is stars and the night sky (we're talking about Abraham). Wear something with star or something bright or sparkly that reminds you of the stars that twinkle and shine at night. This year's mission project is a multi-player food drive to impact our community of Dublin. We're collecting food items to place in our Blessing Box. Elementary children will learn more about our project tomorrow during their Missions class (preschoolers are certainly encouraged and invited to join us in our mission project even though they will not attend a missions class). We're so excited to see everyone tomorrow!
If your child is joining us for VBS this year, this newsletter has information about our plans for the week (check-in and out process, mission project, dress up days, etc.) Please take a look before Monday! Remember, VBS starts on Monday morning, June 17, at 9 AM! If you know of a child who has not registered, but wants to join us...we'll have forms available at church tomorrow and Monday morning at the check-in tables (we have closed online registration). TODAY is the LAST day to register ONLINE for our Vacation Bible School. Starting tomorrow, to register you will have to come to the church office to sign up a child for VBS 2019. Of course, you can also register your child Monday morning when you drop him/her off for VBS. However, early registrations help us! We can make sure we have the correct number of supplies and we can make your Monday morning easier by having all the information we need and your child's name tag and security card ready. We are only able to guarantee that children registered by June 3 will get a t-shirt...but we did order extras. Those shirts will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis...so registering early has many perks! Just finished walking across the Brooklyn bridge and now as we sit and wait for Brooklyn Tabernacle Prayer Service to begin “wisdom” came to visit us in the form of this kind brother. We are indeed on Holy Ground 🙏

We said the first 40 kids registered for VBS 2019 would get a Power Up bracelet...but we've discovered we ordered more than we thought. We have 40+ registrations already, but we have about 15 more bracelets to give away! Our supply of bracelets is limited, so make sure you register your kids for VBS as soon as possible if they want a bracelet (and we think they will)! P.S. We suggest you watch the video with the sound up...makes the bracelet even cooler and you get a little preview of a VBS 2019 song.
